The Art of Taste and Tradition

L’arte del gusto e della tradizione

A visit to Alpe Pragas offers more than just the finest fruit delights. It’s an invitation to experience a place where flavour, nature and art come together as a whole. Stefan Gruber, founder and creative mind behind the fruit manufactory, has created a space where culture is part of the identity. Through exhibitions, concerts and local artworks, he brings the cultural spirit of the region to life. This interplay of aesthetics, locality and sensory depth is no mere decoration. It reflects a philosophy that values beauty, honours craftsmanship and seeks to engage all the senses. A visit to Alpe Pragas becomes more than a tasting experience – it becomes a lasting memory.

Sculpting Nature’s Voice: The Art of Alfons Runggaldier

Few artists embody this spirit as naturally as Alfons Runggaldier. From his studio in Ortisei, overlooking the Sassolungo and surrounded by the scent of stone pine, he continues a tradition that dates back to 1887. As a young boy, he stood beside his father at the workbench – today, he is among South Tyrol’s most renowned wood sculptors. His work is instinctive and respectful of the material. Runggaldier let’s the wood guide him. The result is expressive, often feminine figures with poetic ease. “The form was already there,” he says. “Nature had prepared it. I simply followed the line.”

One of his works is currently on display at Alpe Pragas – a perfect fit. His art reflects the same values that define the manufactory: purity, artisanal skill and a mindful relationship with nature.
