Apple Strudel

Strudel di mele

INGREDIENTS

  • 500g plain flour
  • 1 sachet baking powder (approx. 15g)
  • 4 eggs
  • 180g unsalted butter
  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar
  • 200g caster sugar
  • For the filling: "Apple Strudel" fruit preserve - Alpe Pragas

METHOD

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder, eggs, butter, caster sugar and vanilla sugar, and knead until you have a smooth dough. Cover and leave to rest for about 30 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each piece into a thin rectangle.
  3. Spoon the "Apple Strudel" fruit preserve along the centre of each rectangle. Carefully fold the dough over the filling, seal the edges well, and brush the top with cold milk.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan 160°C) for about 45 minutes, until the strudels are golden brown and fragrant.
  5. While still warm, dust the strudels with icing sugar and serve, if desired, with vanilla sauce.
