Apple Strudel

INGREDIENTS
- 500g plain flour
- 1 sachet baking powder (approx. 15g)
- 4 eggs
- 180g unsalted butter
- 1 sachet vanilla sugar
- 200g caster sugar
- For the filling: "Apple Strudel" fruit preserve - Alpe Pragas
METHOD
- Combine the flour, baking powder, eggs, butter, caster sugar and vanilla sugar, and knead until you have a smooth dough. Cover and leave to rest for about 30 minutes.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions. On a lightly floured surface, roll out each piece into a thin rectangle.
- Spoon the "Apple Strudel" fruit preserve along the centre of each rectangle. Carefully fold the dough over the filling, seal the edges well, and brush the top with cold milk.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (fan 160°C) for about 45 minutes, until the strudels are golden brown and fragrant.
- While still warm, dust the strudels with icing sugar and serve, if desired, with vanilla sauce.
