Fruit preserve green gooseberry - From refreshingly fruity green gooseberries. The gooseberry (Ribes uva-crispa) is a bare winter shrub of the gooseberry family in northern and central Europe. The juicy berries have a diameter of about 10 - 20 mm. Gooseberries contain a lot of vitamin C

How do I recognise an Alpe Pragas Original?

By its distinctive square jar. This signature shape has accompanied our fruit preserves and fruits in syrup right from the beginning, quietly becoming one of the most recognisable features of our brand.

What's the difference between a fruit preserve and a jam or marmalade?

By definition, a jam may contain no more than 45% fruit, while the term "marmalade" is reserved for products made from citrus fruits. A fruit preserve, on the other hand, contains at least 65% fruit, with considerably less sugar. This means that almost every variety in our The Original collection is, strictly speaking, a fruit preserve rather than a jam.

Does The Original only offer fruit preserves?

Not at all – The Original gives you our biggest choice of fruit preserves, but that's far from the whole story! Our syrups add a fruity twist to refreshing drinks and aperitifs, our fruits in syrup are the perfect match for ice cream and yoghurt, and our chutneys bring something special to savoury dishes too.
