What’s the difference between stewed fruit and
marmalade?
According to an Ordinance issued in 1982, the term “marmalade“ can
only be applied to preserves made with citrus fruits. Marmalade must
contain at least 35% fruit; stewed fruit must contain 65% fruit.
ALPE PRAGAS stewed fruit is produced with 70% fruit content, and only
30% sugar, lemon juice and apple pectin jellying agent. We DO NOT add
colorants or preservatives. For this reason, our stewed fruit is distinguished
by its fresh fruit flavour, reduced sugar content, and consequently low
calorie count.
