Cranberry The cranberry ( Vaccinium vitisidaea)
is a member of the Blueberry family. Thanks to its
amazing resistance to winter weather (even temperatures
of -22°C), cranberries grow throughout the Northern
hemisphere, from the temperate northern latitudes to the
Arctic Circle (even in Greenland and further north).
Although cranberries have a particularly sour taste and
are rarely eaten raw, they are extremely healthful and
in addition to Vitamin C contain Vitamins B1, B2, B3 and
b-carotene (Vitamin A) as well as various minerals
including potassium, calcium, magnesium and phosphate.
We use the wild cranberry much beloved by Alpine and
Scandinavian peoples for its intense fragrance and sharp
taste. |
