Blueberry The blueberry ( Vaccinium) is a
member of the moor land or Heath family of plants that
includes anywhere from 100-150 varieties, the most
common of which is the one we use: the wild blueberry
(Vaccinium myrtillus). Blueberries can grow in the
highest mountains and even north of the Arctic Circle,
and contain high levels of carotene (which reinforces
the immune system), Vitamin B6, magnesium, and Vitamin
C. The anthocyanins present in the fruit can stain your
teeth and mouth from red to blue, and the same
substances appear to have anti-oxidant and
anti-inflammatory powers, to the extent that they are
sometimes used to cure inflammations in the mouth and
throat. |
